2009 Goals

Hi

Well it's that time of year again when we start to think about the new year and what it holds for us and "new years resolutions", i hate that term, it almost always means we are going to stick to them for 1 week maybe 2 if we are good,i prefer GOALS!

I don't know about you but i also look back and look at what i have and haven't achieved in the current year, after thinking about 2008 for quite a while i realised i did good! Did you??? Some of the things i pulled off in my work life include qualifying as a level 3 personal trainer, getting (and keeping) clients, being asked to be practice manager in my day job, (dental nurse)in my personal life i also pulled off some great things including, finding a faith that is growing each day, meeting some new and great people and refreshing some relationships with old friends that had faded away and not giving up on someone special and asking for help when i need it! to name but a few. However with all these and more i still fell i failed in some way... i realised that i let my fitness drop during the course of a very busy year and with it my enthusiasm for keeping myself fit and active has slowly dropped..don't get me wrong i still work out just not with the enthusiasm i had this time last year! when i looked back i realised i didn't set myself any personal fitness goals...BIG MISTAKE! I spend time with my clients setting their goals with them so why didn't i do it for myself??? without goals i had nothing to work towards, no end target so i have just been going to the gym and ticking over not improving and that hasn't encouraged me to push myself! I have spent the last week thinking of what i want to achieve in 2009 and have decided that my personal fitness goals are going to include:

1, a 10k run in March 2009
2, a 10k run in May 2009
3, a 10K run in July 2009
4, a Duathlon in August 2009
5, regular bike sessions building up to the duathlon
6, Badminton and basket ball once a week.

I also have another goal i have started this weekend..
100 push up challange,www.hundredpushups.com
I hate push ups!! and as a result i don't do them ( or i do but not very well:)) So i came across this challange and decided i would go for it.. an early goal to reach and set me up for the rest of the year..feel free to join in!

There...now I've written them down for all to see and i feel like the old me of 2007 is ready to go again!

I've also realised throughout the course of this year that the people you choose to tell about what you want to do are a HUGE influence in whether you achieve them or not..so choose people who will encourage, support and be honest with you. Negativity will lead you to give up and FAIL.

Did you achieve your goals?
Did you give?
Why did you give up?
What are your goals?
Do you write them down?
Do you tell the right people?

All i have to do now is set myself some goals for my personal life!!!!

Good luck guys in what ever you do and don't give up...
